The Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest at PSHS was spectacular! Fifteen students attending Plymouth South High School advanced to the school finals for Poetry Out Loud on the evening of January 23rd. The finalists worked diligently to recite poems with poise and enthusiasm for the judges and the audience. Students were tasked with reciting two poems from memory in two separate rounds, and were judged based on their accuracy, voice and articulation, physical presence, interpretation, evidence of understanding, and overall performance.
Congratulations to first-place winner, Madigan Chubb, and runner-up, Stella Gizzi! Madigan will be competing in the Massachusetts Poetry Out Loud Semifinals on Cape Cod in early March. Good luck, Madigan! We wish you all the best!
Thank you to the PSHS ELA Department and Plymouth South's Poetry Out Loud Coordinator, Mrs. Kathleen Evans, for organizing this event!
Special thanks to our Semi-Finals Judges, Ms. Allison Shaver and Mr. Erik Walker, our Finals Judges, Dr. Lisa White, Mr. Corey Joyce and Ms. Breyaunna Hattab, and the PSHS Administration.
